Comparison of Individual Air-Side Row-By-Row Heat Transfer Coefficient Correlations on Four-Row Finned-Tube Heat Exchangers

Each row of the heat exchanger (HEX) has different hydraulic-thermal characteristics. When air velocity upstream HEX is lower than approximately 3 m/s, exchanged flow rates at first rows tubes are higher average value for entire HEX. The article presents determination individual correlations air-side Nusselt numbers on each a 4-row finned with continuous flat fins and round in staggered tube layout. method was built based computational fluid dynamics modeling. Mass temperatures were simulated over dozen airflow velocities, from 2.5 m/s to 10 m/s. obtained number will enable selecting optimum given output investment costs can be reduced by decreasing number. Moreover, operating also lowered, as pressure losses lower, which turn enables reduction fan power.
